A small climbing frog with a long rising trill. The first brown tree frog recorded on the property.

How to identify it

  • Small, 3.5 to 4.5 cm.
  • A dark stripe running back through the eye.
  • A good climber, often found near buildings and water.

Where it lives

In damp, sheltered spots on the land. Best identified by call, not by looks.

When to look

Calls after rain: a long, rising trill. Record it on the FrogID app.

Now also called the Southern Brown Tree Frog (Rawlinsonia ewingii).

Status at Skye

Confirmed on Mount Skye, 9 August 2026, photographed and logged to iNaturalist.
